Foreword

SBN is a simple, feature-integrated, scalable, and flexible monitoring software solution which makes it efficient for operators to create installations, action plans, and zones and begin monitoring accounts immediately.

The purpose of this document is to act as a quick startup guide for operators. This document covers basic functionality of SBN. For more detailed information, please refer to the documentation found within Security Business Net or contact an associate of Innovative.

This document is constructed in the following manner:

Paragraph 1 is a brief overview of the Operator Quick Startup Guide document.

Paragraph 2 summarizes logging into SBN.

Paragraph 3 summarizes an installation and how to create an installation.

Paragraph 4 summarizes Action Plans and how to set up an action plan.

Paragraph 5 summarizes Zones and how to create a zone.

Introduction

Adding a location to be monitored requires entering information on:

  • Installation – The location to be secured and devices used to send signals to SBN.

  • Action Plans – Installation-defined lists of contacts that operators use to handle the signals

  • Zones – Specific protected locations or devices within an installation’s premises

Logging into SBN

To log into SBN:

  1. Click on the SBN icon on your desktop.

  2. Enter your username and password and press ENTER.

Installation

An “installation” is a building, facility, or other location that is being secured. To add an installation:

  1. From the Installation Pane, click the New button. This opens a new pane with editable fields.

  2. Click the Ins# Generation button at the top of the window. This enters a new Installation Number into the Ins No field.

  3. In the Mon Stat dropdown menu, select PEND to dedicate this to a pending installation. This autofill’s the field to the right with the current date.

  4. Using the Tab key, move through each field. Enter the installation’s ZIP code and press Tab. This will autofill address, time zone, GeoCode quality, and latitude/longitude information into their respective fields.

  5. Fill in any remaining fields as necessary.

To add panels to the installation:

  1. After pressing Tab to go through the Installation Pane fields, the cursor will appear under the CID column at the top of the window.

  2. If the panel does not have a CID, press the Auto Generate CIDs button at the top of the window to generate a Panel ID and then press Tab. If the panel already has a CID, enter it in the CID field.

  3. Select the type of panel to be used from the dropdown menu in the Panel column and then press Tab.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to list all panels currently in the installation.

  5. When finished, click the Save button at the top of the Installation Pane to save your changes. To return to the main pane without saving changes, click Exit.

Further information about the installation may be added in the Basics Tab:

  1. Press Tab until the cursor appears in the Basics Tab in the lower half of the window.

  2. In the Inst Date field, select the Installation Date from the calendar menu. If you open and then close the calendar menu without selecting a date, the field will auto populate with today’s date.

  3. Enter the remaining fields in the Basics Activity Tab, including further details on the installation.

  4. To save all changes and return to the Basics Tab, click Save. To return to the Basics Tab without saving any changes, click Exit.

Action Plans

To set up the Action Plans to be used in an installation:

  1. Select the Action Plans Tab in the lower half of the Service/Data Entry window.

  2. Click New to open the editing pane of the Tab.

  3. Enter a plan number of 0 in the Plan field. In the next field, enter Default.

  4. Click Save to save your changes, and then click New.

  5. In the new plan, enter a new number and name.

  6. In the lower pane of the tab, click on the space below the Passcard column to select an agency and phone number.

  7. Under the Sequence # column, enter a number for the priority in which the contact should be called.

  8. Repeat steps 4 through 7 as needed. The Plan Index column will display the action plans in numeric order.

Zones

To create zones within an installation:

  1. From the Zones Tab, click the New Record button. This opens the Zone Details window in the Tab.

  2. Complete the Panel ID, Zone, Zone Type, and Action Plan fields with the appropriate information about the zone.

  3. Complete the remaining fields as necessary.

  4. To save your changes and return to the Zones Activity Tab, click the Save button in the Tab. To return to the Zones Activity Tab without saving any changes, click Exit.

  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each of the zones in the installation.
