Pager Service

Overview

The Pager Service delivers queued SMS / paging messages out of SBN. On a fixed timer it pulls a batch of pending pages from the SBN paging queue, cleans up each destination number, and sends the message — retrying a configurable number of times before giving up. Successful pages are marked complete; failures are flagged and an email alert is sent. Dealer branding (such as an inventory image) is included with the message when one is configured for the dealer.

Messages can be sent one of two ways: through the default delivery path, or through an optional NATS path for dealer-aware delivery. The delivery method is chosen automatically from the configuration — when the NATS path is enabled it is used, otherwise the default path is used. The Pager Service requires a working SBN data-server connection plus at least one valid delivery path at start-up; if neither is available the service logs the reason and stops.
