eDispatch Service

Overview

The eDispatch Service forwards alarm activity from SBN to a 911 dispatch center electronically, so that an operator no longer has to relay the alarm by phone. As new alarms, follow-up chat messages, and address-verification requests are queued in SBN, the service picks them up and submits them to the dispatch center's message broker in the industry-standard ASAP (Automated Secure Alarm Protocol) format.

The service runs continuously on a fixed timer, checking for new activity each cycle and delivering it as it arrives. It supports both the legacy submission method and the newer secure method that uses a certificate, and it requires a working SBN data-server connection to run.

Service Properties

Only properties specific to this service are listed here. Common service properties (SBN Server connection, Logging, SMTP) are found here.

How often the service checks for new activity to send. The service waits this many seconds between cycles, then submits any new alarms, chat messages, and address requests waiting in the queue.

Central Station ID

The identifier for your central station that is included with every message sent to the dispatch center. This value is provided by the dispatch center.

Central Station Source ID

A secondary source identifier sent alongside the Central Station ID to identify where the message originated. This value is provided by the dispatch center.

Central Station Name

The name of your central station as it should appear to the dispatch center.

Central Station Phone

The contact phone number for your central station, included with messages so the dispatch center can reach you.

Message Broker URL (Legacy SOAP)

The address of the dispatch center's message broker for the legacy submission method. Leave this set when the dispatch center expects messages over the older protocol.

Certificate Password

The password that unlocks the security certificate file specified above.
