Log Analyzer
Log Analyzer
The Log Analyzer searches the collected logs for the entries belonging to a particular service and request, so a single call or transaction can be traced after the fact.
Overview
The Log Analyzer reads the rotating log files the Log Server keeps and searches them on request - typically for all the entries that share a trace identifier, so the steps of one call can be followed across services. It is used by the dashboard when you look up the log for a specific request.
- Runs: When configured. One per host.
- Required: Only for looking up historical trace logs. Detection and call handling are unaffected without it.
- Depends on: NATS, and the log files the Log Server writes on the same host.
Configuration
The Log Analyzer has no settings of its own - it searches the folder the Log Server writes to (logger.fileLocation). Searches look back about a week by default.
