Alarm DTMF Sender
Alarm DTMF Sender
The Alarm DTMF Sender sends alarms out over a phone call as tones (DTMF), using the P100 elevator-alarm protocol, to an external receiver.
Overview
Where an alarm has to be delivered to an external receiver as a phone call rather than as data, the Alarm DTMF Sender places the call and sends the alarm as DTMF tones in the P100 format: it dials the receiver, waits for the start tone, sends the account and alarm data with a checksum, and waits for the acknowledgement. For the appropriate alarm type it can then open two-way voice to the receiver.
- Runs: When configured.
- Required: Only if you send alarms out by phone using P100. Not needed otherwise.
- Depends on: NATS and the SIP services (to place the call).
Configuration
Most of the behaviour is set per line in the line configuration - the destination number and the retry counts. The service itself has one setting:
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
alarmdtmfsender.skipAck | false | Skip waiting for the receiver's acknowledgement tone after sending. Leave off unless a receiver needs it. |
On the line, set the protocol to P100 and the destination to the receiver's number; the dial and protocol retry counts can also be set there. After changing settings in sbn-media.local.yaml, apply them with ./sbn-media config reload.
FAQ
How do I send an alarm by phone?
Configure a line with the P100 protocol and the receiver's number. An alarm for that line is then dialled out and sent as DTMF tones.
What is the two-way voice part?
For the appropriate alarm type, the sender can open a voice channel to the receiver after the alarm is acknowledged.
Do I need it?
Only for delivering alarms to a receiver by phone using P100.
