Ubuntu/macOS Setup
Native Ubuntu and WSL Ubuntu use the same instructions. macOS uses the same installer one-liner; macOS-specific notes are inline below.
Prerequisites
- Ubuntu (native or WSL) — for WSL, ensure your username is configured
git— verify withgit --versioncurl— verify withcurl --version- An Innovative-authorized GitHub account
- A working copy of the SBN_IR SVN tree — follow Source Code first
Step 1 — Install
The installer downloads the latest release into ~/ibs-compilers, offers to remove any pre-existing Python ibs_compilers install, offers to migrate an existing settings.json, and ends by prompting to run configure (which appends a PATH export to your ~/.bashrc or ~/.zshrc).
Step 2 — Configure
If you accepted the install-time configure prompt, skip the first command. Otherwise:
Open a new shell so the new PATH entry loads, then:
Use any profile name (e.g. SBNA). Point SQL_SOURCE at the SVN working copy you set up via Source Code (typically ~/ir_local).
Updating
See Getting Started → Updating.
Notes
- macOS Gatekeeper: on first run you may see "cannot be opened — developer cannot be verified". Run
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine *in~/ibs-compilersonce. - Permission denied after self-update:
chmod +x ~/ibs-compilers/* - Bash hash cache:
hash -rafter PATH changes.
