Recorded Stream
Recorded Stream
The Recorded Stream service plays back recordings that were captured earlier, so an operator can review past video or audio as a stream.
Overview
The Recorded Stream service replays media that was previously recorded, the same way a live device is streamed - so a recording can be viewed, sought through, and played back in SBN Video. It reads from where the recordings are stored and plays back from a chosen point in time.
It is one of SBN Media's *device-stream* services, so it shares the on-demand creation, load-balancing, and limits common to all of them - see Device Streams (SBN-Media/Devices/device-streams). This page covers only what is specific to recordings.
- Runs: When configured. Needed to play back recordings.
- Required: Only if you replay recordings.
- Depends on: NATS, and the stored recordings (made by the Recorder).
Configuration
Recorded Stream has no settings of its own beyond the shared devicestream configuration described on the Device Streams page. A recording is opened by its URL:
recorded://<device-id>?startTime=<time>- replays the recording for that device from the given time.
After changing any shared settings in sbn-media.local.yaml, apply them with ./sbn-media config reload.
FAQ

Where do the recordings come from?
They are captured and stored by the Recorder; Recorded Stream reads them back.
Do I need it?
Only to replay recordings.
