Service Cause Codes

Overview

Use Service Cause Codes (program #1571) to define and maintain service cause codes. Menus of Service Cause Codes appear in the Service Log tab of Data Entry (program #559) and in several other programs throughout SBN.

To access this program, select Service Cause Codes (program #1571) from the main menu of SBN.

The Service Cause Codes Window

The following graphic shows Service Cause Codes as the program opens. The upper pane displays previously defined service cause codes.

Field/Column Descriptions

The following table describes the fields and columns used in the main window of Service Cause Codes.

Field/Column	Description
Cause	Abbreviation that identifies the selected service cause code.
Description	Text description of the selected service cause code.

Zooming into the Sublevel

The Service Cause Codes program contains two sublevel tabs:

The Cause Codes Details tab - in which you can link a selected service cause code to a list of action codes. You can improve the efficiency of the Customer Service module by carefully linking action codes with service cause codes.
The Translations tab - in which you can attach multiple translations to service cause codes. The service cause codes then appear in SBN in the userâ€™s language.

The Cause Codes Details Tab

Use the Cause Codes Details tab to link a selected service cause code to a list of action codes.

The following graphic shows the Cause Codes Details tab. The tab displays previously defined actions attached to the selected service cause code.

Field/Column Descriptions

The following table describes the fields and columns used in the Cause Codes Details tab.

Field/Column	Description
Action	Abbreviation that identifies action code linked to the selected service cause code.
Description	Text description of the selected action code.
Action	You may select an action code to link with the selected service cause code. (This menu originates from program #1523.) O You may link more than one action code to a service cause code. Choose Save Existing Record after you select each action code.

The Translations Tab

Use the Translations tab to attach multiple translations to service cause codes. The service cause codes then appear in SBN in the userâ€™s language.

Note: Actions 1571/20-24 control access to the Translations tab and functions.

Field/Column

Description

Language Code

Code that identifies the language of the associated translation.

O Contact IBS before using language codes 11-17.

Description

Text description, in the associated language, of the selected service cause code.
