Device Manager
Device Manager
The Device Manager keeps the record of each device - its address, name, location, and capabilities - so the rest of SBN Media knows about the cameras and other devices in a deployment.
Overview
The Device Manager stores the configuration of each device: its stream address, a friendly name, which tenant and site it belongs to, its capabilities (audio, PTZ, on-board storage, and so on), and any detection areas used by analytics. It also captures and keeps a base reference image for video devices. Other parts of the system ask it for this information - for example the analytics services use a device's detection areas and its classifier group.
- Runs: When configured. One per host.
- Required: Needed where devices are managed centrally - in particular for video and analytics features that rely on per-device settings.
- Depends on: NATS, where the device records are kept.
Configuration
The Device Manager has no settings of its own. Devices are added and changed through SBN Media's own interfaces and tools rather than a configuration file - the Device Manager stores and serves those records. It can also import devices from an upstream provider and mark ones that have gone away.
