Alerts Service

Overview

The Alerts Service keeps an external alerting platform in step with permit activity tracked in SBN. On a fixed timer it checks for pending alert changes — new permits, suspensions, upcoming expirations, expirations, and clears — and forwards each one so the right notification is raised or removed for the affected subscriber. Each change carries the subscriber and account details along with the appropriate alert message, so the receiving platform always reflects the current permit state.

The service runs continuously, processing each batch of pending changes as it appears and recording the outcome of every call. It requires a working SBN data-server connection; if the connection cannot be established at start-up, the service logs the reason and stops. Should a delivery fail, the service notifies the configured email recipients and stops so the problem can be corrected.
